PhD Opportunity at DTU
We are excited to announce a PhD scholarship position opening at DTU Construct, supported by the EU-funded TREASURE project. The selected candidate will play a critical role in advancing large-scale thermal energy storage solutions for buildings and communities, specifically focusing on the design, computational modeling, and optimization of large water pit storage systems. Working in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology and other international partners, this PhD research will contribute significantly to reducing energy demand in green and sustainable construction.
The ideal candidate will have a two-year master’s degree in engineering or a related field, with experience in energy simulation software (such as TRNSYS and Modelica) and proficiency in programming languages like Python. Preferably, candidates will also have a background in topics such as thermal energy storage, solar heating, or building heating/cooling systems, and experience with publishing research papers would be an asset.
In addition to the technical research, the successful applicant will be involved in teaching and the supervision of BSc and MSc student projects. This position provides an excellent platform for candidates to develop their academic careers by working closely with leading experts in thermal energy storage and building energy systems, allowing ample room for professional growth.
This PhD position will be supervised by Associate Professors Jianhua Fan and Simon Furbo. For full scholarship description, visit the DTU’s website linked below. And if you would like further information, please contact Associate Professor Jianhua Fan at jifa@dtu.dk. The deadline for sending the application through the online platform is 29 November 2024.
