Introducing Newheat
Introducing TREASURE consortium member - Newheat.
Newheat is an independent renewable heat supplier, managing projects throughout their entire life cycle to deliver a turnkey supply of CO2 free thermal energy on the long term. Newheat develops, designs, finances, build and operates its own renewable and waste-heat production units, to offer a turnkey heat supply solution for the final consumers. Newheat combines all types of renewable heat generation and thermal energy storage into an advanced system, following a precise merit order answering to the company’s view of an economic and environmental optimum starting with the heat recovery, then solar thermal, heat pumps and finally biomass. The storage chosen for the project can be short or long-term storage.
Newheat owns and operates 3 solar thermal plants including daily storage on Industrial applications and 2 solar thermal plants including daily storage on District Heating Network applications. Newheat focuses on two key technical competences: system modelling that allows creating heat plants tailor-made for each site and control that allows a piloting optimization during the operation phase.
Newheat also has an ambitious R&D strategy, recognized at an international level. Newheat is 5-time winner of call for projects for R&D program and coordinates IEA works on Solar Thermal and Seasonal Storage.
Role in the project
In the TREASURE project, Newheat will bring its experience in developing and building PTES storage in France using the project in development in the city of Pau. The development of this project will help gathering data, information on the French legal framework in France, information on the financing possibilities, information on the instrumentation, etc.
Newheat will also lead three different tasks which are:
Task 2.2 Financing and organization
Task 5.5 Comparisons of the KPIs of the different demonstrators
Task 7.2 Market uptake and business plans for key project outputs
