Introducing TREASURE consortium member - Hamburg Institut.

Hamburg Institut is a consulting and research company with a focus on the energy and environmental sector. Since 2012, it has been supporting ministries, municipalities, energy industry companies, associations and other national and international stakeholders in the successful implementation of the energy transition. Hamburg Institut pools long-standing expertise from politics, administration, business, law and technology and offers interdisciplinary research work in addition to consulting and strategy development.

With the overarching goal of a sustainable energy supply, Hamburg Institut focuses on renewable heat, municipal and corporate climate neutrality, climate policy, the green electricity market and guarantees of origin. The company is based in Hamburg-Altona (Germany) and currently employs around 40 people.

Role in the project

In the TREASURE project,  Hamburg Institut contributes its experience with heat storage systems and heating networks to various work packages.

The focus of investigation is the implementation of seasonal storages on big city level as leader of task 3.7 and as one of the main contributors in task 2.2 on financing mechanisms as well as business model investigation and development.  

As main scientific interface for the demonstrator in Rostock with prior involvement and geographical proximity, Hamburg Institut  is in close exchange with the project overall.
